A step in the right direction for accountability!

Thursday, March 8th, 2012

Well it looks like our phone calls paid off because today the General Assembly rejected the most recent outrageous pay hikes that were to be slicked by us! HB3188 is an amendment that freezes the pay hikes in Quinn’s budget proposal. How could they even think of doing this? Ah Well! The glimmer of hope came through. Now we just need to hold their feet to the fire and demand fiscal accountability in ALL matters!

Sad State of Affairs!

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Well, it looks like Springfield has what it takes to take everything you have! I listened to the State of the State message and I would characterize it in a much different way than the Governor presented. I was hopeful that the Governor would be honest and admit that our state is in crucial crisis and offer substantive solutions. Denial is by no means a long-term solution. The true state of the state in the last year shows that our credit rating has dropped to the worst in the nation; our unemployment rate at 9.8 % is worse than the national average and worse than it was a year ago, and our bills continue to pile up as overspending continues. I stand ready to offer solutions to make the state of the state strong again. A state we can once again truly be proud of.

Resurrection of the “Moral Majority.”

Friday, February 10th, 2012

Today, I had two privileges, I was invited to tour the station headquarters of WYLL 1160 Chicago’s Christian Talk Radio and talk with their great staff, then I attended the DuPage Tea Party meeting this evening and listened to David Smith of the Illinois Family Institute update us on issues and current legislation. As I drove home I was reflecting on how this election process certainly has many crucial issues and problems that can be resolved if tackled honestly. There is no question that Illinois needs job creation and we must become small business and big business friendly, and we need definitive reform on all levels, all programs, and we need to repeal the recent tax increase, and I will assist in making these solutions happen. But I am even more hopeful and encouraged as I view the big, big picture and that is the resurrection of the “Moral Majority.” It seems these words are not heard much anymore but after attending “Speak Out Illinois” and today’s opportunities and other events, I see the groundswell of the hard-working honest moderate conservatives arising in strength of numbers. We cannot remain silent or indifferent any longer, people banding together can make a difference! Just look at the force of the homeschoolers that went to Springfield to have their voices heard against SB 136 and would not be intimidated by Senator Ed Maloney. We must act jointly and proudly as moderate conservatives, if we do not the panoramic picture as viewed historically in some future year may regretfully see the 21st century as the time of the deterioration of moral society, a society that allowed destruction of the nucleus family, a society that disregarded the value of the yet unborn, a society that saw its elderly as “units” not people and only provided comfort care for anyone over 70, a society that gambled away its earnings, a society that minimized its conscience and lost its moral compass. It is not too late, and I applaud those who will let their voice be heard for the “Right”!
